Stand Up For Vets
Stand Up For Veterans is an advocacy campaign of the Disabled American Veterans. Its purpose is to generate greater public awareness and support for strengthening federal policies that provide health care assistance to disabled veterans injured in the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as those from prior eras and conflicts.
Stand Up For Veterans is focused on areas that demand further action by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Congress and the President in order to heal the visible and invisible wounds of our veterans. Some of the major areas requiring action include diagnosis and treatment of traumatic brain injuries, screening and treatment for mental health problems, new support for family caregivers, additional focus on the unique needs of women veterans and funding reform for veterans’ health care.
The 1.3 million-member Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. DAV is dedicated to a single purpose: building better lives for our nation’s disabled veterans and their families.
